Half owl, half giant rat. A large nocturnal beast.
Imagine a sickly owl the size of a bear, it’s bottom half like like a hairless giant rat. Its wings are emaciated.

It can hide, see and hear very well, especially in the dark.
Attacks (1/round)
Claws. The owlbear makes two melee attack (1D6).
Vorpal Beak. The batar stands makes one melee attack (1D6). On a hit, the target must save or lose usage of one limb until magically healed. Roll 1D6: 1, none; 2, left hand; 3, right hand; 4, left leg; 5, right leg; 6, throat.
Random Encounter
- Monster: 1D4 batars.
- Lair: A deep crawl space under a rock formation. 3-6 chances that there are 1D10 cubs.

Omen: An owl sound, way too loud. - Spoor: A carcass, mangled beyond recognition.
- Tracks: A high pitched shriek, answered by a similar, closer one.
- Trace: A high pitched shriek, answered by a similar, further away one.
- Trace: A foot-long mouse gray feather, blown in the wind.
Salvaging the body
Batar beaks can be cut into very sharp weapons, but their skin is uselessly thin.
